DESCRIPTION
This workshop is very much based on practice, but the first day (Friday, 4h) will be focused entirely on classroom time, with first a lecture and then critique from a selection of your photos that you should send me in advance.I'll share useful tips about camera settings, technique, composition, timing and how to look for that "luck", and we'll see which are usually the key ingredients that make a photo successful.
Friday's photo critique of your previous work is important, so that when starting practice on the street next day, you already have the feedback and specific things to work and improve on.
Saturday & Sunday will be mostly about practice. I'll be shooting alongside you and sharing tips and ideas on how to capture the extraordinary in the everyday, and how to shoot with confidence on the streets.
Students will be immersed in an intuitive and playful approach to Street Photography. We'll walk and walk, and see, and try and fail and try again, and walk, and see and react, compose, recompose, wait, think, discuss — And then again and again, always trying to get the best out of every situation we encounter.
Each student will get an honest and constructive critique, where I'll go into detail about WHY a photo works or it does not, and HOW it could have been improved. This will help you have a better understanding when it comes to analyzing your own photos. You'll become more demanding and you'll also get more confident on the editing desk and on the streets.

LOCATION
Barcelona (my hometown) is one of the best cities in Europe for street photography: great weather, very diverse shooting areas within walking distance and lots of things constantly going on. We'll take advantage of all of that plus we'll have our lunch breaks at a couple of authentic (and cheap) home-made food restaurants.The 2 main meeting points will be Plaça Reial (classroom location) and Plaça Sant Jaume, both in the Gothic Quarter. The shooting will take place in and around that neighborhood, and also in El Born, Eixample around Plaça Catalunya, Arc de Triomf, Parc de la Ciutadella, Port Vell, and La Barceloneta. There will be no pre-planned route: we will let the photos guide us through the city, as I usually do.
REQUIREMENTS
We'll walk around 15km during the day, so bring a good pair of comfortable shoes. You're free to bring any camera/lens of your choice, or even shoot with your smartphone, but I recommend using a focal length of 28 or 35mm, as they are better for zone-focusing, and as you'll see, zone-focusing is our friend. You'll also need to bring a laptop with Lightroom (or similar) installed.
